Formula 1, Monza: the Tricolour Arrows open the 2023 Italian Grand Prix
The National Aerobatic Team will fly over the starting grid of the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, just as in previous editions.
Sunday 3 September will once again see the renewal on’Monza National Autodrome the established marriage between the world of Formula 1 and the Italian Air Force. On the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix in fact, at Monza, 9 MB-339PAN aircraft will fly over the starting grid of the motor race, trailing the longest Tricolour in the world across the sky.
The flypast of the National Aerobatic Team will take place right after the final notes of the Mameli Anthem. Flying over the Autodromo Nazionale Monza has now become a traditional event, which has been repeating every year since 2015, highly appreciated by automotive and aviation enthusiasts.
This particular flypast has an even more significant meaning because it takes place in the year of the Centenary of the establishment of the Italian Air Force as an independent Armed Force, which took place in 1923. One hundred years of history: the same as the “Temple of Speed” which celebrated them just last year.
History, speed, innovation, technology, engines and team spirit have always united the Flight Departments of the Italian Air Force, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza and the Formula 1 teams. Indeed, ever since the establishment of the Armed Force in 1923, the men and women in blue have worked daily in the service of the country under the banner of innovation and modernity.
