The proceeds from the event, which attracted over a thousand participants, were donated to the Bone Marrow Donors Association (ADMO). The event's testimonial was Franco Boffi, an Olympic athlete who boasts 2 Italian titles in his career, in the 3,000m steeplechase and flat races, achieved in 1984 and 1987 respectively.
Around 700 military and civilian participants entered the various non-competitive categories, and over 300 took part in the National Air Force Running Race, an competitive event over a distance of 7000 metres. This latter race this year was won by Rudy Magagnoli of Contrada S. Giacomo, Ferrara, who crossed the finish line ahead of Sergeant Michele Uva, assigned to the 32nd Wing of Amendola (FG). Among the women, the overall winner was Erica Cazzadore of the Società Sportiva Salcus, and among the military participants, Sergeant Daniela Cecchetti, assigned to the Logistics Command in Rome.
The winning athletes were presented with awards by the numerous local authorities in attendance, including the Prefect of Ferrara, Dr. Michele Tortora, and the Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Ferrara, Mr. Simone Merli. On the sidelines of the awards ceremony, the Commander of the COA, Air Division General Roberto Nordio, thanked everyone present – athletes, supporters, and organisational staff, first and foremost Colonel Odorico Sacchini, for his fourth and final experience as the responsible Officer – for the enthusiasm with which they participated and contributed, in various capacities, to the initiative.
As in previous years, the COA is dedicating the proceeds from the event to charitable activities. For the 7th edition of the Spring Run, the Ferrara branch of the non-profit Bone Marrow Donor Association (ADMO) has been chosen.
