It took place on November 4th, at 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, The inauguration ceremony of the G-222 transport aircraft, destined – after a thorough restoration – to become permanent memorial at the entrance to the airbase.

The initiative represents a fitting tribute to all the fallen of the 46th Air Brigade, who operated and lost their lives in service aboard this type of aircraft. The new placement of the G-222 aims to preserve and pass down the memory of the Brigade personnel's sacrifice, becoming a symbol of continuity, inspiration, and gratitude for future generations.

The commemorative day began with the celebration of Holy Mass at the Kindu Shrine, a sacred place dedicated to the memory of the fallen, and then continued with the official aircraft inauguration ceremony at Ramp 0 of the Base.

The event was attended by the families of the Fallen, the Brigade's personnel, and numerous military authorities, including the Commander of the Air Squad Command – 1st Air Region, Air Force Corps General Silvano Frigerio, the Commander of the Mobility and Support Forces (CFMS), Air Vice-Marshal Alessandro De Lorenzo, and the Commander of the 46th Air Brigade, Air Brigadier General Luca MAZZINI.

The G-222, protagonist of a long operational history at the service of the country, today assumes a new and significant role: guardian of memory and symbol of the value of those who have served the community with honour and dedication.
