First ‘international’ course for the 61st Wing in Lecce. It is the first time that the Salento Flying School, which has long embarked on a path of internationalisation, has graduated a LIFT course made up entirely of foreign personnel. To them, the Wing Commander, Colonel Alessandro Bartomeoli, and the Commander of the 212th Flying Group, Lieutenant Colonel Maurizio Quarti, presented the diplomas during a ceremony that took place on Thursday 21 January in the Aula Magna of the airbase, in the presence of a representation from the Hellenic Air Force. The course, which is carried out by the 212th Flying Group on MB-339CD aircraft, involves approximately 70 missions during which participants learn all the basic elements of operational activity on fighter aircraft, practising typical ground-attack and air-to-air combat mission profiles in flight, including flights carried out at the Decimomannu Shooting Range. In addition to this, there is an intensive theoretical training programme and a basic intelligence course. Words of appreciation for the high value.
