In order to increase screening capacity in the region, a testing centre, offering both rapid and molecular swab tests, was opened on 20 January within the military grounds of the 3rd Wing of the Italian Air Force stationed in Villafranca di Verona.

The centre, capable of carrying out up to 3000 swabs per week, was set up in an extremely short time at the request of the Scaligero Local Health and Social Unit, with prior authorisation from the Joint Operations Command, by adapting facilities already used for the vaccination campaign.

The facility will be managed by personnel from the 3rd Wing, who will support volunteers from Civil Protection of District 7, Mincio Zone, in citizen reception and will contribute to carrying out swabs on three lines with their own nurses, alongside staff from Ulss9.

The facilities of the 3rd Wing, an entity under the Logistic Command's Support Service, now converted into a testing centre, were used as a Defence Vaccination Post (PVD) open to the civilian population for eight months until October 2021, successfully administering almost 34,000 inoculations during its period of operation.
