From April 9 to 13, the Air Command and Control Course was held as part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) program. On Friday, April 13, the third course for “Civil-Military Cooperation” (CIMIC) operators within the Air Operations Command (COA) of Poggio Renatico (FE) concluded. This consolidates the COA’s training experience in this field, with the aim of providing the Armed Forces with the ability to project “air power” beyond national borders, when the mandate of the international community so requires, in the most effective manner in relation to the needs of the “non-military” actors alongside whom they will operate. The course, which is part of the COA’s broader training program, expands its offerings and, specifically, provides participants with the skills necessary to structurally integrate the needs and opportunities from the “non-military” world (International Organizations, Governmental, Non-Governmental, etc.) into the planning and conduct of Air Operations wherever they are conducted. The activity, which includes lectures and practical experiences, falls under the category of functional training, aimed at acquiring skills and procedures for personnel intended to operate in specific CIMIC operational positions within command and control structures such as the Italian Joint Force Air Component Command (ITA JFAC). Noting the presence of participants from various Departments of the Air Force, in testimony to the general interest aroused by the topic, the Air Division General Antonio Conserva, Commander of the COA, congratulated the attendees on the results achieved, demonstrating the commitment they have shown in learning the proposed content. Through the Operations Preparation Department, the COA provides training for the Armed Forces personnel to operate in Command and Control Centers for national, coalition and multinational air operations, or conducted under the auspices of the UN, NATO and the EU.
