At the 3rd Storm Wing in Villafranca di Verona (VR) from November 12 to 21, the 23rd course “Users of Air Transport (UTA)” was held, in which 20 participants, all of them members of the Italian Army, participated, including 14 Officers and 5 Sub-Officers. The course is aimed at personnel from all the Armed Forces employed in the field of air transport, with the objective of providing an overview of the operations, activities, and responsibilities of the operators called upon to prepare personnel, equipment, and materials in transit for the Operational Theatres. Therefore, the course provides the participants with specific insights regarding the stages of initial preparation and deployment, which conclude with the final delivery of the cargo to the qualified personnel “Movement & Transportation (M&T)” employed at the “Air Terminal Operation Center (ATOC)” of the Air Force. The course consists of a theoretical first phase and a final practical phase, carried out as an “On Job Training (OJT)” at the ATOC of the 3rd Squadron. This is part of the numerous training and educational activities of an inter-service nature jointly managed by the Inter-Service Operational Command (COI) and the Air Force Logistics Command – Support Service, aimed at disseminating the culture of Air Transport and the logistics operations associated with it. In this context, the 3rd Squadron serves as a national hub for the support of training promoted by the Armed Forces, in an inter-service and inter-agency context, and is also designated as the “Air Port of Embarkation/Debarkation (APOE/APOD)” for personnel and material destined for the various operations in which the Military Instrument is engaged. The Stormo provides Operational Support and Logistic Support (Combat Service Support – C.S.S.) to all units of the Armed Forces that are deployed to operate within and outside their permanent bases, and in fulfilling its tasks, it plans, prepares and deploys “capacity packages” to support the implementation of airport logistical, technical and operational capabilities that the Italian Air Force ensures both in Italy and abroad.
