The Air Force Selection Center hosted the second edition of the Workshop dedicated to Navigator Selection. On Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 September, at the headquarters of the Air Force Selection Center at the military airport “Alfredo BARBIERI” in Guidonia, the 2nd Workshop on Navigator Selection took place.
The meeting stems from the need to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the selection process for competitors who intend to access the first class of the Regular Flight Training Courses of the Air Academy, as well as to identify possible areas of intervention within this selection process and to develop sustainable proposals that are up to date and projected into the future. The event, chaired by Air Force General Umberto Baldi, Commander of the C.S.A.M./3^R.A., was attended by the experts from the sector involved, directly or indirectly, in the selection process for Navigators. The work began in the early afternoon of September 19th with a greeting from Colonel Giuseppe Prestipino, Commander of the Center, who, after welcoming all participants, thanked the Air Force for having identified the Center of Selection as the venue for carrying out this important activity. Following General of the Air Force Umberto Baldi, Commander of the C.S.A.M./3rd R.A., who – in his address of greeting – wished to emphasize the importance of the event by explaining its objectives, highlighting the importance of optimizing the processes for the selection of navigators. The two days of work, developed through an analytical review of the various competitive/selection phases, allowed for the identification of numerous points of reflection aimed at improving the selection process for navigators. The meeting was attended by official personnel from all the High Commands and the top bodies of the Armed Forces. The proceedings were concluded with the intervention of General Baldi, who thanked all the participants for their commitment and the ideas proposed. The A.M. Selection Center in Guidonia is subordinate to the A.M. Schools Command/3rd Air Region of Bari. It is responsible for implementing, executing, and supporting, with competence, the selection and professional guidance activities of candidates, aimed at identifying among them the best ones based on motivation and aptitudes related to the aerospace dimension, in order to make the Italian Air Force increasingly useful to the community.
