At the event, chaired by Colonel Viperini, Commander of the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, a delegation of the personnel assigned to the Unit attended. During his speech, the outgoing Commander thanked the personnel for the constant and high-quality support guaranteed, giving them credit for the important results achieved, stating: “I could entertain you with figures such as flight hours and missions flown, operational certifications achieved, number of qualified crews, complex missions flown and tested for the first time, but this is not a review of what has been done, it is above all a tribute to those who have served, namely the men and women standing before me today”.
Under his command, moreover, the 8th Flight Group also took part in operations in Afghanistan and Operation ’Unified Protector“ in Libya.
Finally, the outgoing Commander wished the best of success in the prestigious and sensitive role just assumed by his successor, who, over the past year, has served as Head of the Operations Section within the same Flight Group.
The 8th Squadron of the 14th Wing carries out daily important training work aimed at flight personnel destined for the KC767A and G222 lines, conducting air-to-air refuelling and personnel and material transport operations.
