Humanitarian flight for a compatriot in serious condition
The emergency flight was carried out by a Falcon 50 on the Tel Aviv – Turin route.
The humanitarian flight carried out by a Falcon 50 aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino on the Tel Aviv – Turin route concluded in the early hours of yesterday afternoon. The urgent transport was performed at the specific request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) to save the life of an Italian national hospitalised at the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
The Falcon 50 embarked the patient at Ben Gurion Airport, who arrived on site by ambulance, and landed at Turin Caselle Airport around 4 PM on Saturday 28th October. Assisted on board by a medical team from the San Giovanni Bosco Hospital in Turin, as well as a doctor and a healthcare assistant from the Italian Air Force, the patient was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Turin hospital.
The health protocol was activated through intensive coordination work between the Presidency of the Council's Flight Office and the Air Squad Command's situation room, the operational room of the Air Force which, among its duties, also organises and manages these types of interventions for the benefit of Italian citizens, whether residing within the Republic or abroad, who find themselves in situations of grave danger.
Requests for flights for humanitarian purposes are made to the Prefectures (for citizens residing in Italy) or to the Italian diplomatic and consular representations (in the foreign country where the citizen is in danger), which in turn forward them to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – General Secretariat – Office for State, Government and Humanitarian Flights.
