100,000 HOURS OF FLIGHT FOR THE EUROFIGHTERS

The Eurofighters in service with the air forces of Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, and Saudi Arabia have reached the milestone of 100,000 flight hours.

The Eurofighters in service with the air forces of Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Austria and Saudi Arabia have achieved the milestone of 100,000 flight hours. This important milestone was celebrated on Tuesday 25 January at Eurofighter headquarters in Munich, Germany, with an event attended by representatives of the Eurofighter programme, the NATO agency NETMA which manages the programme, and senior officers from the air forces operating the aircraft. Italy was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squadron General Maurizio Lodovisi. In Italy, the Eurofighters are in service with four fighter interceptor flight squadrons: the 9th and 20th at the 4th Wing in Grosseto, and the 10th and 12th at the 36th Wing in Gioia del Colle (Bari). With the Eurofighters, and with the F-16 fighter jets of the 37th Wing in Trapani, the Air Force ensures continuous surveillance of national airspace, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
