On Tuesday, 24th May, the instructional visit for attendees of the RACSA Interceptor Control Course will take place. The visit is part of the educational and instructional activities planned for achieving the ‘interceptor controller’ qualification, representing a fundamental moment where the trainees come into direct contact with the most strictly ‘flying’ aspect of the mission type.
The RACSA students, after visiting the hangars of the Aircraft Efficiency Group (GEA) of the 4th Wing and participating in a pre-mission briefing at the 20th Flying Group, went to the 21st GrRAM at Poggio Ballone where they observed the intercept training mission carried out by three Eurofighter ‘Typhoon’ fighter jets.
For approximately one hour, the aircraft practised various simulated combat tactics under the control of the radar unit within their designated airspace; once the mission was completed, the RACSA's instructor personnel and the trainees returned to the 20th Flight Group to participate in the post-mission de-briefing phase.
The aim of this instructional activity was to establish relationships between the various operational components of the Air Force, strengthening those bonds that are fundamental for synergistically pursuing a single objective, namely the defence of national airspace.
