It was an unequal-span biplane with W struts and a wooden stressed-skin truss fuselage, which from the cockpit backwards had a characteristic triangular section.
The numerous variants of the SVA and its long production run make it difficult to reconstruct the aircraft's history (approximately 1,700 units).
The SVA 9 was a dual-control aircraft, unarmed with enlarged wing chord, which had already been on trial since April 1918.
