Lieutenant Colonel Silvestri left Major Pagani in charge of the Training Center for Aircrew of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa. During his speech, Lieutenant Colonel Silvestri expressed his appreciation for all the personnel of the C.A.E., stating that “It is solely thanks to you that I was able to achieve all the results that the Armed Forces required from the Centre”. The incoming Commander, Major Pagani, in thanking for the trust granted to him by the Higher Authorities, emphasized “the importance and the sensitivity of teaching, a key element for achieving the objectives of the Brigade and the Armed Forces”. Colonel Masolino, Commander of the Flight Department, complimented Lieutenant Colonel Silvestri “for the excellent results achieved during the period of command”While testifying, Lieutenant Colonel Stefano Pagani, born in Novara in 1972, entered the Air Academy with the “Orione IV” course. Assigned to the 46th Air Brigade in 1997, he obtained his license on the G222 aircraft in 1998 and on the E-3A (AWACS) in 2005. In 2001, he transitioned to the C-130J aircraft, becoming an instructor later on. He has over 3000 flight hours on four different aircraft, of which about 200 in operational theaters. In recent years, he has held the position of Head of Training and Standardization Section at the Operations Office of the 46th Air Brigade. The Training Center for Crew Equipment of the 46th Air Brigade was established in the 1970s to train all the crew members of the C-130H and G-222 aircraft.
In the early 2000s, with the advent of the C-130J, the Center was relocated to a new facility called the “National Training Center” (N.T.C.) and assumed the ability to train the flight crew through the dynamic flight simulator, as well as the technical personnel responsible for aircraft maintenance.
With the delivery of the first C-27J in January 2007, the Centre acquired its definitive configuration with the ability to train the crew and maintainers of that flight line; in March 2010 the C-27J dynamic simulator became operational as well.
