The Otranto Department was reorganized into the 136th Remote Radar Squadron and the Aeronautical Detachment. At the event, chaired by Air Division General Mirco Zuliani, Commander of the Poggio Renatico Air Operations Command (FE), local civil, religious, and military authorities participated.
Lieutenant Colonel Maurizio Marozzi, the last of the 27 Commanders of the 32nd GRAM, during his speech expressed full and convinced satisfaction with the way the men and women of the Department have guaranteed, until the very end, the highest professionalism, silent self-sacrifice combined with an unquestionable spirit of service, thus ensuring the fulfillment of the institutional tasks assigned to the 32nd GRAM: guaranteeing the integrity of the National Airspace and NATO.
Commander Marozzi, after thanking the Defense Administration for granting him the honor of being the 1st Commander of the newly formed Air Detachment that will be responsible for managing the delicate transition during a very delicate period for limited economic resources, emphasized that “The only certainty in this delicate period of activity, transformations and achievements is the awareness of being able to count on the full logistical and administrative support of the High Command, as well as on the excellent professional qualities and undisputed human qualities of the personnel serving at the Air Detachment.”.
The reorganization of the Radar Group into the 136th Remote Radar Squadron, under the command of the 4th Technical Maintenance Department in Borgo Piave (LT), is part of the broader program of reorganization of the Air Defense Command and Control structure, both national and NATO-based.
Major Papadia, 1st Commander of the 136th Remote Radar Squadron, previously Chief of Operations at the 32nd GRAM, asked his men to continue to operate with the same enthusiasm, dedication, and effectiveness that have distinguished their status as military personnel in the past.
