Delegates from 12 countries met at the 46th Air Brigade to discuss “Global Mobility” The NATO Aerospace Capability Group 5 (known as ACG 5) meeting took place at the Pisa air base, organised by the 4th Department of the Air Force Staff, with the support of the 46th Air Brigade. The NATO working group is responsible for sharing information regarding programmes launched by individual nations and the Atlantic Alliance relating to “Global Mobility”. The aim is to promote cooperation and interoperability between the countries involved, with particular reference to technological aspects concerning equipment. At the heart of the proceedings, which took place from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 October, was precisely the cooperation and interoperability between individual nations and NATO regarding five fields of interest: precision airdrop capability, precision approach and landing systems, special operations capability, global mobility (air-to-air refuelling/strategic transport) and standardisation of avionics systems (Standard Avionics Architecture). The meeting, which saw the participation of 31 delegates representing 12 nations, was preceded on Monday 20 by a meeting of the Joint Precision Airdrop Capability Working Group, concerning precision airdrop capability. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of fruitful cooperation and the work will continue according to a well-established biannual schedule, with a new meeting to be held in the spring of 2015.
