A C-130J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa transported armoured vehicles and UN goods destined for Syria. The aircraft, coming from the Tuscan military airport, landed in Brindisi at 15:30 and, following loading operations, departed for Beirut (Lebanon) at 17:30. Another flight was carried out the following day to transport further materials and vehicles. The vehicles will be used to support the United Nations mission in Syria, decided by the Security Council with Resolution No. 2042 of 14 April, which provides for the dispatch of observers to monitor compliance with the “ceasefire”. The Brindisi Italian Air Force Detachment, which reports to the Deputy Logistic Commander of the Italian Air Force, provides support for the peacekeeping activities of the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) and the humanitarian activities of the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD).
