Over 80 works by aeropainter Tullio Crali (1910-2000) are on display at MUSAM (Museum of Air Force History) in Vigna di Valle, where the inauguration ceremony for the painting exhibition was held on May 30, 2025. The exhibition aims to represent a complete cross-section of the artist's life. Thanks to loans from the Crali Family and other public and private lenders, MUSAM will be a destination for Futurism and art enthusiasts until July 13.
The inaugural ceremony was preceded by a period of reflection and presentation, with speeches from Colonel Gerardo Cervone, Head of the 4th Historical Office, and Lieutenant Colonel Angelo Gionti, Head of the 2nd Section of Historical Material, both from the 5th Department of the AM Staff, from the exhibition curator Doctor Barbara Martorelli, and, representing the family, Mrs. Anna Bartolozzi Crali.
The Commander of the Rome Air Force Command (COMAER), Air Force General Achillle Cazzaniga, who conveyed the institutional greetings to those present, stressed how “Bringing the exhibition of Tullio Crali to the MUSAM is an extremely important achievement, both for the popularisation of the aeropainter's art and as a further opportunity for the Historical Museum itself, which is proving to be a location for the most diverse initiatives, aimed at promoting knowledge of history, art, and technology connected to aeronautical culture itself.”.
Among the various works, some paintings become three-dimensional, multi-material objects, while other large-format paintings represent the painter's focus on the National Aerobatic Team, which he managed to advance the Futurist movement (to which he had become attached after meeting Marinetti) in time.
The event was attended by numerous civil and military authorities, including the Mayors of Manziana, Alessio Telloni, and Trevignano Romano, Claudia Maciucchi, art experts, and several members of the Crali family itself.
