I piloti, dopo un periodo di formazione minimo presso l’Accademia e l’ addestramento al volo presso le scuole in Italia o all’estero vengono assegnati ai Reparti Operativi. L’impiego su una specifica linea di volo dipende dalle performance mostrate e in base alle esigenze della Forza Armata….. L’impiego del pilota è determinato dalla linea di volo (fighter, trasporti, elicotteri) presso la quale verrà assegnato. Il pilota della linea fighter assicura ogni giorno la sorveglianza e la difesa dello spazio aereo nazionale ed euro-atlantico. Il pilota della linea trasporti viene impiegato in missioni di trasporto sanitario, trasporto personale e materiali, rifornimento in volo, ricognizione e sorveglianza. Il pilota della linea ala rotante (elicotteri) si occupa di Ricerca e Soccorso, trasporto personale, recupero di persone in aree di crisi, supporto aereo alle operazioni speciali. Qualunque sia la sua provenienza volativa, il pilota può essere impiegato in Italia e in missioni fuori dai confini nazionali.
L’ingresso in Forza Armata come Pilota di Complemento prevede un iter formativo diverso rispetto a quello del Pilota dei Corsi Regolari d’Accademia. Non viene conseguita la laurea magistrale e l’assegnazione ai Reparti Operativi avviene in tempi più brevi…… L’iter formativo prevede la frequenza di vari corsi di qualificazione professionale.
I piloti di Complemento vengono quasi esclusivamente impiegati presso i Reparti Operativi di Forza Armata in Italia e all’estero.
