HH-212A

Elicottero - Bell 212

The HH-212A, the Italian military designation for the rescue version of the Agusta-Bell AB.212, is a multi-role helicopter, used by the Italian Air Force for search and rescue services across the entire Peninsula and territorial waters, and for Combat SAR (Combat Search And Rescue).

Thanks to their day, night, and critical weather operational capability, utilizing NVG (Night Vision Goggles), the HH-212s and their crews are a cornerstone in complex and difficult-to-manage missions. In the ICO (Operational Capability Implementation) configuration, equipped with passive crew protection, defensive armament, and infrared-guided anti-missile countermeasures, they have been deployed to support the ISAF contingent in Afghanistan.

Designed in the United States by Bell Helicopters, it was built under licence in Italy by Agusta.

The aircraft went out of service in February 2024.
