Single-engine, side-by-side two-seat, monoplane trainer.
In 1924, Breda began the replacement of the aeroplanes at its flying school.
The first stage of this upgrade process was the A.4, a basic training biplane with a single engine.
In a traditional configuration, the A.4 had a two-bay biplane cellule and a 130 hp Colombo D110 engine, with the only innovation being the side-by-side cockpit.
The production run comprised approximately 60 examples, of which 10 were used by the Breda school for the training of pilot cadets under military contract.
The main use was therefore military, at the flying school of the Royal Air Force Academy.
The Breda A.4 was retired in 1935.
