The Caproni Ca.97 was the progenitor of a family of aircraft that remained in production for more than fifteen years, adopting the fixed-wing monoplane and fixed-undercarriage configuration.
It was fitted with three small 100-130 hp “Lorraine Dietrich” radial engines.
Its military use began in 1929.
As of 31 December 1937, the Royal Air Force still had seven in service.
He was struck off the register in 1939-40.
