Friday 17 February officially marked the end of the redeployment of the 555th Fighter Squadron from 31st Wing at Aviano at the 4th Wing Grosseto Air Base.

The presence of American F-16s Grosseto air base allowed the Eurofighter of the 4th Wing to carry out joint activities with significant training benefits for the 9th and 20th OCU Groups (Operational Conversion Unit). The proximity in fact allowed the pilots to carry out together, in person, the briefing and debriefing of the missions carried out of various types and complexity.

The joint training activity represented an important opportunity for both parties to work together by strengthening interoperability, increasing synergy and standardising techniques and procedures.

The institutional mission of the 4th Wing is the control and surveillance of airspace for the defence of our country. In addition to the valuable contribution that the Wing provides to international missions, numerous operational events are organised at the Grosseto air base with the participation of foreign armed forces and national organisations, such as the Civil Protection and the Italian Red Cross, aimed at improving the training of their personnel and preparing for interventions to help populations in need.
