The Senior Management Studies and Experiences It was one of the very first and most advanced scientific research and development centres for testing new aircraft, weaponry, equipment and everything related to flight.
Thanks to the restoration and valorisation of the entire infrastructural complex, a historical museum route has been created that highlights the role of Guidonia Airport at the dawn of the Royal Air Force.
Among the artefacts still visible along the route are the three buildings of the Aerodynamic Section that housed the wind tunnels, the double-return tunnel and the supersonic tunnel, the most advanced of the era in terms of power and size, also known as the “ultrasonic stratospheric tunnel”. Another significant element is the Hydrodynamic Section, whose basin was among the largest and most innovative of that period. The entire site of the DSSE has been recreated virtually and can be enjoyed through an immersive experience that highlights its activities and experimental methodologies.

Booking for guided tours, which can be made up to a maximum of 30 days in advance, is available to visitors via the “BOOK” button at the bottom of the page. Following booking, a QR code will be generated to be brought along to allow access to the 60th Wing of Guidonia, together with a valid identity document.
