The series of meetings was organized by the Flight Safety Inspectorate as part of the training and awareness-raising activities in the field of Flight Safety 2022.
The first Flight Safety Seminar took place from March 7 to 11 at the 70th Squadron in Latina, and was attended by all the Flight Safety Officers and Air Traffic Management Officers (Flight Safety/Air Traffic Management) of the Flight Operations Entities under the Command of the Schools of the Italian Air Force/3rd Air Region of Bari.
The series of meetings was organized by the Flight Safety Inspectorate (ISV), in close collaboration with the CSAM/3ªRA SV Office, and focused primarily on “Flight Safety Management System (FSMS)”, The Flight Safety Management System, with which – in addition to offering a systematic approach to risk management at any organizational level – the transition from a proactive and reactive type of Flight Safety has also been initiated, allowing the identification and anticipation of potential dangers or areas of risk before they become apparent and cause an event or incident to occur.
After a brief introduction to the training/educational activities carried out and the peculiarities of the Pontine Flight School, given by the Commander of the Air Wing, Colonel Michele Grassi, Colonel Nicola Lucivero, Head of the SV Office of the CSAM/3ªRA, in welcoming the participants, wished to thank the Flight Safety Inspectorate for having offered the opportunity to increase knowledge about the management and application of the FSMS in A.M., thus laying solid foundations for the development, within the High Command and in their respective Flight Departments, of a valid “Flight Safety Management Manual (FSMM)” and at the same time allow the creation of a team of qualified personnel on the FSMS who can interact and collaborate effectively.
The seminar concluded on Friday, March 11, with the intervention of Brigadier General Roberto Di Marco, Inspector of the ISV and President of the Higher Institute for Flight Safety (ISSV), who wished to emphasize the importance of the FSMS as a new approach to Flight Safety, highlighting how “Each Department, for its own peculiarities and its own mission, has its own SV enclosure that is different from any other entity. FSMS sets itself the goal of teaching a working method while providing a valid tool to support, in terms of Flight Safety, the Commanders in the accomplishment of the Departments” missions.”.
