On Wednesday, December 21st, at the Scuola Marescialli dell’Aeronautica Militare/Comando Aeroporto di Viterbo, the individual swearing-in ceremony of the newly promoted Third Class Marshals of the Italian Air Force belonging to the 23rd Deimos II Regular Course was held.

The simple but solemn ceremony, which took place in the presence of the National Flag of the School of Commandership of the Italian Air Force, was presided over by the Commandant of the Training Institute, Colonel Sandro Cascino, in the presence of the Commandant of the Courses, the President of the Sub-Officers, Graduates and Military Personnel of the Institution, and the officers in charge of the Courses that make up the Viterbo military school.

During the ceremony, the 88 Second Class Marshals who attended the 23rd Deimos II Course renewed, individually, the Oath of Loyalty to the Homeland.

As highlighted by the Commander of the School, the individual oath represents a significant milestone for the students because it reaffirms the solemn commitment to serve the Homeland and the free institutions with even greater awareness, born of a different and more significant legal status, that of Marshal in permanent service.

The Marescialli of the 23rd Deimos II Course are currently attending the third year of studies in the curriculum of Sciences and Techniques of Aeronautical Professions, which will culminate with the completion of the Bachelor’s Degree in Political Sciences and International Relations at the University of Studies of Tuscia and, for some of them, in that of Nursing Sciences at the detached branch of “La Sapienza” in Viterbo, before being assigned to the operational departments of employment.

The School of Marshals of the Air Force/Air Force Command of Viterbo is subordinate to the Command of the Schools of the Air Force and the 3rd Air Region of Bari; the Department performs a dual mission: on the one hand, as a university-type institution, it has the task of providing military and moral training and specific professional education for the Sub-officers of the Marshal’s Role, as well as of perfecting and updating that training; on the other hand, as a military airport open to civilian traffic, it provides technical and operational support, air navigation services and force protection activities at the Tommaso Fabbri Airport.
