Tuesday 7 December, at the “Visconti” Auditorium in Aeronautica Palace, the handover ceremony of the first symbolic cheque bearing the sum collected by took place Air Force Military Personnel Employment Directorate (DIPMA) in favour of the foundation AIRC for Cancer Research, which has been operating in Italy for over 50 years.
Air Division General Fabio Sardone, Director of DIPMA, during his welcoming address, thanked all the staff of the Directorate for the solidarity shown by participating in the charitable initiative, thus emphasising the tangible support of his staff, who are an expression of the values of altruism and solidarity that guide their daily actions.
It Head of the 5th Communications Department“ of the Air Force Staff, Air Brigadier General Giovanni Francesco Adamo, in thanking DIPMA for this first donation, expressed the hope that it“let it be a source of encouragement and an example for all our colleagues who, within their respective departments or individually, will be able to provide their contribution in support of research”.
The initiative is part of the events, manifestations and voluntary donations by the Armed Force which, throughout 2023, the centenary year of the Italian Air Force, will support the solidarity initiative “A gift from heaven”for AIRC to purchase highly technological, state-of-the-art equipment for IFOM, AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology Foundation.
The Directorate for Military Personnel Employment of the Air Force is the instrument through which the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force manages the deployment of Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Enlisted Personnel and Airmen. Specifically, it provides for the planning and implementation of the measures necessary to meet all national, inter-service and international requirements, verifying that the establishments of the bodies comply with criteria of optimal deployment and fair distribution.
