EXCHANGE
The new email system MAIL.AERONAUTICA.DIFESA.IT has been developed on a new architecture based on Microsoft Exchange 2010, following the contract for the “Migration of the A.M. Email System”. Specifically, the contract includes the migration of 25,000 mailboxes from the open-source system “Aeromail” to the new platform implemented at the ReSIA Acquasanta Data Processing Centre. The new system has been configured within the DIFESA's Single Multi-Domain Forest and will therefore be interoperable with the other Microsoft Exchange platforms implemented by the other Armed Forces.

The email platform created is strictly integrated with the new F.A. AM.DIFESA.DOM domain, developed as part of the GIA (Integrated Asset Management) Project. The migration plan for users to be migrated to the new System has been defined by SMA 4th Department.

The main features of Microsoft Exchange 2010 software are the centralised management of messaging via email (both external and internal), and the management of calendars and address books which can be shared among the various users of the Defence network.
