Romania: Italian Air Force Eurofighter aircraft redeployment completed

The Air Task Force Gladiator redeployed to Constanța, Romania, from mid-November 2022.

With the landing of the four aircraft Eurofighter Typhoon Eurofighter from the 4th, 36th, 37th, and 51st Stormi of the’Italian Air Force, the redeployment operations in Constanța (ROU) have been completed Task Force Air “Gladiator” Che, with his 150 men and women, will immediately begin the delicate preparations necessary for achieving full operational capability.

The achievement of F.O.C. (Full Operational Capabilitywill be aimed at strengthening cooperation and therefore interoperability between national assets and those of Host Nation (HN), as well as allied contingents present in the area of interest.

After the salute from the Canadian contingent present at the air base and the handover with the Italian personnel, the rotation process between the two nations for the collective defence mission, called Enhanced Air Policing Air South (eAPAS) in Romania, which operates continuously 365 days a year, ensures the integrity and security of the airspace of all Alliance countries.

The Italian Air Task Force (TFA-R) “Gladiator” has been redeploying since mid-November 2022 to the Romanian airport of Mihail Kogălniceanu di Costanza to help strengthen surveillance activities carried out by NATO on the eastern flank of the Atlantic Alliance.
