A C-130J of the 46th Air Brigade transported a patient in imminent danger of life accompanied by a medical team and his wife
At the request of the Bari Prefecture, an urgent medical transport of a 49-year-old man in imminent danger of life was completed this afternoon, carried out with a C-130J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade of the Aeronautica Militare.
The patient, admitted to the Bari University Hospital’s Surgery Department, U.C. Marinaccio, has been transferred to the Padova University Hospital, where he will continue his treatment.
To carry out the transport, an ambulance with the patient on board, accompanied by the medical team and his wife, was loaded onto the C-130J.
The aircraft took off from Bari Palese Airport in the afternoon, with a destination of Venice-Tessera Airport.
Once in Venice-Tessera, the ambulance was disembarked from the aircraft and continued on foot towards the University of Padua Hospital, where the patient was treated.
Today's flight, as is customary for this type of activity, was authorised by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages and coordinates the state aircraft fleet.
The Italian Air Force's flight units are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions. They ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for these types of operations by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and by the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia.
