Press Release No. 68/2021 URGENT AIR AMBULANCE TRANSPORT: 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION, AIR FORCE FALCON 50 FLIES HER FROM ALGHERO TO ROME A Falcon 50 aircraft from the Air Force's 31st Wing recently concluded a mission transporting a 5-year-old girl requiring urgent medical attention from the SS Annunziata Hospital in Alghero to the Bambino Gesù Paediatric Hospital in Rome, where she will be admitted. The life-saving flight, requested by the Prefecture of Sassari, was immediately coordinated by the Summit Situations Room of the Air Force's Air Squadra Command, the operational centre of the Air Force responsible for arranging and managing these types of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps on standby, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at various bases for such emergencies. The aircraft, which took off from Ciampino airport late this afternoon, reached Alghero airport where, in compliance with the precautionary measures related to the COVID-19 health emergency, it embarked the patient, a parent, and the medical team that ensured her healthcare during the flight. The Falcon 50 then landed at Ciampino airport, where the child was transferred to the Roman hospital. Missions of this kind require the utmost speed. The Air Force's flight departments are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of operating, even in adverse weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport of not only people in imminent danger of death, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances.
