Press release no. 68/2017 MARCHE, MUNICIPALITY OF PERGOLA: THE AIR FORCE RECEIVES THE ’ANGELS OF THE SKY“ AWARD.
A significant ceremony was held today, in the evocative setting of the Council Chamber of the Pergola Municipality, to witness the strong bond between citizens and the Air Force. The initiative was promoted by Mayor Baldelli and the referent of Civil Defence activities of the Fano Aeroclub, Davide Picchi, who took up the invitation of fellow citizens to recognise the commitment made by the Armed Force during the 2016 earthquake. The “Angels of Heaven” award was collected by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squadron General Enzo Vecciarelli, who, in taking the floor, recalled how the skills, means and professionalism of the men are always available in case of need, dual capabilities always at the service of the country. On the occasion, the Air Force Chief of Staff also highlighted the careful work of Mayor Baldelli, with the entire municipal council, to strengthen the spirit of the community and exalt the values of the “common good”, cohesion and passion in preserving the historical memory and fostering local growth. All this was set against the backdrop of the National Truffle Fair in Pergola, which was well attended. In the afternoon, the Commander of the 15th Wing, Col Tomaso Invrea, received a special plaque in memory of the commitment of the men and women of the 15th who, like “Angels from Heaven”, came to the rescue at a time of great difficulty. The bond between the Air Force and the Municipality of Pergola testifies how respect and gratitude are values that can unite even in difficult times.
