Press Release No. 72/2017 ITALIAN AIR FORCE: FLIGHT FROM SARDINIA FOR A 6-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN LIFE-THREATENING DANGER An urgent medical transport has been completed by a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Wing for a 6-year-old child. An emergency medical transport carried out with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Air Force Ciampino Wing from Olbia to Ciampino in favour of a 6-year-old girl in Imminent Life Danger (IPV) was completed. On board the aircraft were the mother and a medical team. The little patient was then transferred to the Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome. The request for support came from the Prefecture of Nuoro to the Sala Situazioni di Vertice del Comando della Squadra Aerea, the Air Force's operations room, one of whose tasks is to organise and manage - in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - this type of transport throughout Italy. The Air Force's transport aircraft and helicopters are ready 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, to intervene for missions of public utility such as the emergency medical transport of people whose lives are in imminent danger, as happened last night, or that of organs and medical teams for transplants. The service covers the entire national territory, including the islands, and when requested by the competent authorities is also carried out on behalf of Italian citizens abroad.
