Press Release No. 34/2021 ITALIAN AIR FORCE: MEDICAL TRANSPORT FOR A PREGNANT WOMAN The woman was transported from Catania to Genoa by a Falcon 900 of the 31st Wing. In the early afternoon of today, Saturday 13 February, the urgent medical transport carried out by a Falcon 900 of the Italian Air Force's 31st Wing was completed, transferring a 30-year-old pregnant woman from Catania to Genoa. The request for immediate transfer from the Vittorio Emanuele Polyclinic Hospital in Catania to the Gaslini Hospital in Genoa was made by the Prefecture of the Sicilian city to the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squadron Command, the Italian Air Force's operations room responsible for organising and managing these types of transports throughout the country. Through its Flight Departments, the Italian Air Force provides aircraft and crews ready to take off at any moment and capable of operating even in complex meteorological conditions to ensure the urgent transport of not only people in imminent danger of life, as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants. Hundreds of flight hours are undertaken each year for this type of mission by aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
