On June 28 and 29, the 60th Stormtroops Wing in Guidonia held a First meeting of 2022 between the Commanders of the entities under the Air Force Schools Command, chaired by Air Squadron General Silvano Frigerio, Commander of the A.M./3ª Regional Air Schools.

The purpose of the meeting was to bring together experiences, issues, approaches and programs in the short and medium-long term in the field of selection, recruitment, flight training, military, cultural and professional training of the Air Force personnel.

The work was initiated by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti who, addressing his greeting to the attendees, wished to emphasize “…With only a few months left until the Centenary celebrations of the Air Force, it is important to highlight the central role of the entities that are responsible for the selection, recruitment, training and education of our personnel. Passing on our values, history, traditions, dedication and professionalism in the wake of the past represents an important pillar to inspire the new generations. In this context, a role of absolute importance and centrality is played by the selection activity: cutting-edge, transparent and effective selection processes ensure that the Air Force continues to be a healthy and cutting-edge Armed Force, increasingly projecting itself into the future in service of the country.

The first day was dedicated to in-depth discussions on specific thematic areas within personnel management (with the intervention of the Director of the D.I.P.M.A., Gen. D.A. Fabio Sardone), trade union organizations (with the intervention of the Head of the U.C.A.G., Brig. Gen. ZANNONI), and pandemic-related topics (with the intervention of Col. Vittorio Carminato of the CoVID task force).

On the second day, after the solemn flag-raising ceremony, work continued and specific issues related to selection, recruitment, training and education were addressed with a Special focus on the program “International Flight Training School” which in the coming days will see Italian and foreign visitors train on the T-346 aircraft at the Decimomannu base.

In conjunction with the work of the Commanders, a meeting took place between the Presidents of the junior officers, graduates, and military personnel of the Schools Command, during which several issues related to the institutional figure of the President were discussed.

General Frigerio, thanking the participants, in his concluding remarks emphasized “…To face the new challenges, it is necessary to place the human resource at the center of the organization. An Armed Forces increasingly advanced technologically and constantly at the service of the community needs to have men and women increasingly prepared and trained, starting with initial training to continue throughout the entire professional life through a process of “long life learning” that keeps pace with the times and changes.
