Wednesday 18 March, Air Squad General Francesco Vestito, Commander of the Air Force Schools Command / 3rd Air Region (C.S.A.M./3ª R.A.), welcomed by the commander of RAMI Avord, Lieutenant Colonel Fabrizio Regoli, made an institutional visit to the Air Force Representation located within the 702 Air Base of’French Air and Space Force.

During the visit, General Vestito was able to see first-hand the training context in which RAMI Avord operates, which is part of the’Transport Aviation School (EAT), centre of excellence for the training of French military transport pilots.

The Italian Air Force Representative Office at Avord constitutes a significant element in bilateral cooperation between Italy and France in the field of flight training, contributing to the development of an’Iteration training of Italian trainees enrolled in the training path at the EAT, in an international context fully consistent with the requirements and standard of the Italian Air Force.

At the EAT there are currently two Italian trainees, integrated into a highly qualified and interoperable training environment. The syllabus involves the progressive acquisition of multi-engine piloting skills, with a particular emphasis on instrument flight, operational navigation and Multi Crew Coordination, until the achievement of standard required for use in the Armed Force's flight lines.

The training activity takes place on the Embraer EMB-121A Xingu aircraft, a twin-turboprop aircraft used for the advanced training of transport pilots, which is particularly suitable for developing operational skills in an IFR environment and for managing flight even in degraded conditions.

During the visit, the CSAM Commander met with RAMI personnel, expressing appreciation for their high level of professionalism and the contribution made to strengthening international synergies in the field of aeronautical training.

The visit represented an important opportunity to consolidate collaborative relations with the’French Air and Space Force and to reaffirm the strategic value of international cooperation, in line with standard NATO and with the interoperability objectives between allied air forces.

The activities concluded on 19 March 2026, confirming the central role of RAMI Avord as a point of reference for the international training of Italian military pilots.
