The University ‘Papa Luciani’ thanks for the logistical contribution during the NATO CBRN course at the military airport of Grazzanise. The relic, donated to Colonel Fabio Rinaldi, Commander of the Wing, by the Pope's niece, consists of a piece of the cassock worn by Pope Luciani before his pontifical investiture. On the same occasion, the 9th Wing and Colonel Rinaldi himself were awarded an honorary degree in Security and Investigation Sciences. This ceremony marked the final act of a training program initiated and organised by NATO and realised, from a strictly didactic point of view, by the University ‘Papa Luciani’ of Rome. Given the civilian nature of the specialised training and the international recognition it entailed, various institutional bodies participated, including Police Forces, the Italian Red Cross, Civil Protection, Firefighters, and military personnel, including those from the 9th Wing itself. On Friday, 23 April, a practical simulation of the synergistic management of a hypothetical chemical-bacteriological incident took place at the same military airport of Grazzanise. The simulation involved aircraft (on the ground) and first aid vehicles from the 9th Wing, NATO, and personnel belonging to various institutional bodies, and concluded with the rapid establishment of an efficient decontamination and medical assistance pathway, guaranteed through synergistic and coordinated inter-institutional action.
