On October 20th, the participants of the 13th ISSMI course and the territorial representatives of the FA and GdF discussed the synergistic relationship between the FA and the social context. The event was attended by the Prefect of Bari, Dr. Schilardi, the Vice Mayor of Gioia del Colle, Dr. Isdraele, the Commander of the Carabinieri Legion of the Puglia Region, Brigadier General Visone, the Chief of Staff of the Command of the A.M./3rd Air Region of Bari, Brigadier General Vitantonio Cormio, the Deputy Chief of Staff MARIDIPART of Taranto, Captain of Vascello Luonghi, and the Commander of the Bari Financial Guard Group, Lieutenant Colonel Ialacqua. General Roberto Di Labio, Deputy Director of the ISSMI, in collaboration with Colonel Giovanni Balestri, Commander of the 36th Squadron, led the round table discussion, which featured interventions by the present speakers followed by an interesting debate sparked by the questions from the participants. The events that took place highlighted the fundamental role of the Armed Forces in the social context in which they operate, not only for the fulfilment of institutional tasks, but also in responding to public emergencies, not least the example of the support provided following the 2009 earthquake in Abruzzo, as well as in interventions that are occasionally requested by the institutions. The work of the Armed Forces is therefore a fundamental element in achieving objectives in synergy with the institutions. The round table took place at the conclusion of the visit of participants to the 13th ISSMI course. Colonel Balestri, after greeting the participants, in the presence of Air Division General Pietro Valente, Director of the Institute, outlined a brief historical overview to present the current reality in which the 36th Air Wing is called upon to carry out the task of Air Defense in the southern part of our country. The complex set of infrastructure, personnel, and equipment that make up the Stormo today, a few months after the X Flight Group was established under the banner of the 36th Flight Group and alongside the XII Flight Group, forms the definitive configuration of a fighter wing dedicated to Air Defense.
