A Falcon 50 aircraft of the Air Force urgently transported a woman in need of immediate specialized medical care. The request for transport, which became necessary to ensure the patient immediate specialized medical care, was sent by the Prefectural Police of Cagliari to the Situation Room of the Air Force General Staff, which immediately arranged the medical flight with the aircraft of the 31st Squadron of Ciampino (Rome).
The Falcon 50, which landed at approximately 15:17 at the “Mario Mameli” airport in Cagliari-Elmas, took on board the patient and the medical staff of the San Giovanni di Dio Hospital, then took off at approximately 15:53 towards Ciampino Airport, where the patient was transferred to the specialized hospital facility in the capital.
The Cagliari-Elmas airport currently represents, for the entire southern part of Sardinia, the most used airport for this type of flights, as it is close to the main hospital facilities of the capital and is able to provide, with its staff, adequate assistance to the aircraft and crews passing through, through a rapid and secure access to the flight area for ambulances coming from the city hospitals.
