A two-day-old newborn was transferred from Cagliari to the ‘Bambin Gesù’ hospital in Rome on Tuesday, February 15th. The transport request, which was deemed necessary to guarantee the young patient immediate specialist medical care, was sent by the hospital to the Prefecture of Cagliari. It was received by the Situation Room of the Air Force Staff, which ordered the flight to be carried out. The aircraft, an Air Force Falcon 900 belonging to the 31st Wing of Ciampino (Rome), landed at the ’Mario Mameli‘ airport in Elmas-Cagliari at 2:32 PM local time and departed at 2:53 PM bound for Rome Ciampino airport where it arrived after approximately 50 minutes of flight. The newborn, transported in a thermal incubator and assisted during the flight by the medical staff of the Cagliari hospital, arrived at Ciampino airport and was subsequently taken by ambulance to the capital's Bambin Gesù Hospital.
