Ten days of operational life experienced by 25 young “recruits” at the Air Force Helicopter School. From Monday 25th July to Thursday 4th August, as part of the “Live the Armed Forces – Military for three weeks” initiative, 19 girls and six boys from the “Cancer” course experienced the operational life of an A.M. training unit at the “G. Moscardini” military airport in Frosinone, home of the 72nd Wing.
During their brief stay, the “aspiring” military personnel engaged in numerous activities: acquiring the basic techniques of Local Force Protection (patrolling, point defence, anti-sabotage techniques, managing “demonstrators at the entrance”), familiarising themselves with first aid techniques, training in the use of various types of fire extinguishers, and participating in the creation of a weather bulletin. No less important were the activities dedicated to formal training and physical fitness, as well as theoretical sessions on basic movement principles and training techniques. Finally, the trainees delved into the specific characteristics of the flight department, familiarising themselves with the TH-500B helicopter and Air Traffic procedures, and observing, at the 208th Flight Squadron, the night instruction activities for Army Aviation attendees. The 72nd Wing, under the command of the Schools Command/3rd Air Region of Bari, is the Air Force unit tasked with training helicopter pilots for all Armed Forces and State Armed Corps.
