On Sunday, June 6, about 2,000 people gathered at the base to greet the men of the Cavallino Rampante, who at the end of June will be transferred to the 36th Air Wing. About 2,000 people were present at the Trapani base, among the men and women who daily provide surveillance services for the national airspace, and who spent the morning visiting the spaces set up for the occasion with technical equipment from the Air Force and the parking areas where the top aircraft of the Armed Forces were parked.
The area dedicated to Ferrari cars also attracted great success; the brand has always been associated with the 10th Group, of which the aviation ace Francesco Baracca was a member. The gathering began on the morning with the laying of an olive wreath at the Monument to the Fallen in the Commandment Square; then a formation of four F-16 fighter jets with special colors that recall the symbols of the Groups took off, keeping the spectators on their toes for about an hour, performing safe-flight maneuvers in various configurations. On board the aircraft were Colonel Bruno Strozza, Commander of the 37th Squadron, Lieutenant Colonel Salvatore Ferrara, Commander of the 10th Group, Lieutenant Colonel Raffaele Catucci, Commander of the 18th Group, and Lieutenant Colonel Fabrizio Genova, Chief of Operations Office. Immediately after landing, the perhaps most exciting part of the event began: the meeting between the different generations of members of the two Groups, who retraced their careers by comparing their memories and various experiences, always united by their passion for flying.
