On Tuesday 23rd February, at the Temple of Hadrian hall in Rome, the evening was attended by the Head of Air Force Staff, Gen. S.A. Daniele Tei. Present at the evening were the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Roberto Maroni, the Deputy Minister for Economic Development with responsibility for foreign trade, Hon. Adolfo Urso, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Vincenzo Camporini, and, for the Air Force, the Chief of Air Force Staff, General of Air Brigade Daniele Tei, General of Air Brigade Giuseppe Bernardis, the Commander of Rome Air Squad, General of Air Brigade Carmine Pollice, and the Commander of Air Force Schools/3rd Air Region of Bari, General of Air Brigade Giampiero Gargini. During the evening, General Tei awarded Colonel Enrico Garettini, serving at the Flight Safety Inspectorate, for his intensive activity in the specific field of prevention. Furthermore, the Commanders of the Units where Aermacchi aircraft are serviced were awarded prizes. In particular, General Pollice awarded Lieutenant Colonel Marco Lant, Commander of the 313th Aerobatic Training Group ‘Frecce Tricolori’, General Gargini awarded Colonel Alessandro Bartomeoli, Commander of the 61st Wing of Lecce, and Colonel Giovanni Magazzino, Commander of the 70th Wing of Latina. The evening concluded with the presentation of the Fondazione ONLUS Pier Paolo Racchetti prize. The prize, dedicated to the memory of Second Lieutenant Luca Antelmi, was presented by General of Air Brigade Domenico Spinelli, born in 1919, of the ‘Vulcano’ course, to aspiring pilot Daniel Bonetti of the ‘Ibis V’ Course, for the excellent results achieved during his training at the Air Force Academy.
