The intervention was carried out by the crew of the HH139B thanks to the close collaboration with the team of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps.
On the afternoon of July 14, an HH139B helicopter of the 82nd Center Combat Search and Rescue The (C.S.A.R.) of the Air Force took off from the military airport of Trapani to carry out two separate rescue and recovery operations in favor of two tourists who were injured at the Zingaro Nature Reserve (TP).
The crew of the Air Force, on SAR readiness duty (Search and Rescue– national search and rescue) following a request for intervention from the CNSAS, received the immediate takeoff order from the operational room of the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) of the Air Operations Command of the Military Air Force based in Poggio Renatico (FE).
The crew took off around 16:15 and reached the field in Castellammare del Golfo in a few minutes where they boarded the team composed of two CNSAS operators.
The military helicopter reached Cala Capreria, where it performed the first rescue operation, recovering a 20-year-old boy who was unable to move. Subsequently, the crew moved to Cala Disa, where they recovered the second injured person, another 19-year-old boy. In both cases, the recovery operations were possible thanks to the use of the winch and the close cooperation between the air rescue personnel of the Air Force and the CNSAS team.
At 17:20 the rescue operations ended with the helicopter landing at the sports field in Castellammare del Golfo, where the CNSAS team and the two traumatized people were disembarked and entrusted to the medical care of the 118.
Subsequently, the military helicopter returned to the air base in Trapani, headquarters of the 82nd CSAR Center, where it resumed the National SAR readiness.
