On Friday, 11th March, the seminar with the participation of General Arpino and Colonel Bellini took place at the Air Force Academy Theatre Hall. The meeting was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Air Squadra General Giuseppe Bernardis, who was welcomed upon arrival by the Commander of the Air Force Schools/3rd Air Region of Bari, Air Squadra General Pasquale Preziosa, and the Commander of the Air Force Academy, Air Brigata General Umberto Baldi.
The seminar opened with the screening of a film about Operation ‘Locust’, and then continued with speeches from those involved who, through their personal and operational experiences, illustrated to the attendees the key elements of a high-profile international operation.
The numerous questions posed at the end of the seminar by the students of the Air Force Academy, many of whom, moreover, were not yet born at the time of the events, have inevitably highlighted how this event has taken on a strong educational/professional connotation as an opportunity for encounter between different aeronautical generations and therefore a useful moment for discussion and analysis on what has been, and will be, the role of air power in international crisis contexts.
