From 19 to 26 June, the educational visit to the Air Force General Staff, the Pozzuoli Aeronautic Academy and the 70th Wing in Latina
Cooperation between the Italian Air Force and the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) has intensified recently, partly in light of the Moroccan Air Force's acquisition of four C-27J transport aircraft. This circumstance also prompted the presence of an Italian Air Force C-27J aircraft at the Marrakech Air Show (27-30 January 2010).
The converging cooperation interests of the Italian Air Force and Alenia made it possible to offer the Academy delegation, led by Air Brigadier General Ahmed Saihi and comprising nine accompanying officers and twenty officer cadets, a comprehensive visit programme.
On Monday 21 June, Colonel Vittorio Iannotta, Head of the International Relations Office of the Aerospace Instrument Planning Department of the Air Force Staff, received the delegation, which was provided with a briefing on the organisation, tasks and prospects of the Armed Forces. The meeting aroused great interest, especially regarding the relations between the Italian Air Force and NATO structures.
The officers of the Moroccan Academy subsequently had the opportunity over the following days to make a series of visits to the 70th Wing in Latina and later to the Aeronautics Academy in Pozzuoli (Naples). Their stay in Pozzuoli enabled the delegation to visit the Non-Commissioned Officers' School in Caserta, the Joint Force Command (JFC) in Bagnoli, and the Alenia plants in Pomigliano d'Arco and Nola. The programme of visits provided the visiting delegation with a comprehensive picture of the Italian Air Force, fully achieving the intended relationship-building objectives.
