The A.M. guarantees the deployment and operation of the TLC services within the framework of the “Formed Police Unit” operations. The Air Force cell, composed of 10 units, provides, on behalf of the General Staff of the Defense, with the preparation and operation of strategic communications in operations on the Caribbean island affected by the recent earthquake, through the use of radio transceivers, radio bridges and satellite connections with the motherland. The activity is ensured by the 3rd Division Logistics Command, which, with the contribution of personnel and equipment from the 4th Technical Maintenance Department DA/TLC/AV of Borgo Piave (Latina), has provided the setup and installation of the necessary telecommunications systems in the theater of operations. The AM cell, which arrived in Port au Prince (Haiti) on Saturday 15 May, has prepared an area suitable for deploying the equipment, prepared the ground and foundations for the installation of the shelters, satellite communication antennas and a technical laboratory, and also installed the pipes and wiring for the electrical supply and the distribution of telecommunications services.
