This evening, 22nd November, a 1-year-old child, in a critical medical condition, was urgently transferred from Lamezia to Ciampino aboard a Gulfstream G-650A aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino. The medical flight was activated by the Summit Situations Room of the Air Force Staff following a request from the Prefecture of Catanzaro.

The aircraft reached Ciampino Airport, where the young patient was handed over to healthcare personnel for subsequent admission to the Bambino Gesù Hospital. On board were the medical team and the patient's mother.

Through these interventions, the Air Force confirms its role in serving the community, guaranteeing vital support with professionalism and speed for those in emergency situations.

Today's flight, as is common with this type of activity, was authorised by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which manages and coordinates the State aircraft fleet's activities. The Italian Air Force's Flight Departments are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions.

They ensure the urgent transport of not only people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.

Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of operation by aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and by helicopters from the 15th Wing of Cervia.
