The aircraft of the Pisa Air Brigade successfully carried out the first sequential launch of two heavy payloads. The dual launch of heavy payloads, two platforms each weighing 6,000 pounds, was carried out by the pilots and specialists of the Brigade’s Equipment Training Center. The release of the payloads occurred in a single pass, in close succession.
The launch marks the acquisition by the Armed Forces of an additional capability in the field of aerial refueling, with potential applications in the field of aerial refueling, especially in operational theaters, and opens the possibility of supplying, by C-130J aircraft, remote or isolated positions with rotary-wing vehicles, small armored vehicles and other material necessary for the operations of the units deployed in the field.
The aviation support activity is just one of the many tasks carried out by the Armed Forces with transport aircraft. The 46th Air Brigade, in particular, contributes with a wide range of missions, ranging from emergency medical transport to air ambulance, to the transport of materials, personnel and equipment worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
