On Thursday 19th August, the course officially entered the Pozzuoli Aeronautical Academy (Naples).
A selection process that for the Arms role and the Corps of Commissioners and Medical Officers is still ongoing and will conclude next September, allowing, at the end of the entire competition procedure, the enrolment of a total of 80 Officer Cadets of the Regular Courses of the Aeronautical Academy. To these will be added a further 5 foreign cadets, underlining the international character of the institute.
The competition for admission to the 1st class of the Air Force Academy saw the participation of approximately 5,100 candidates who underwent, as required by the competition announcement, a pre-selection phase followed by an Italian language test, medical examinations and a psycho-aptitudinal and behavioural internship, at the end of which the candidates took a compulsory oral exam in English and mathematics and an optional one in computer science and an additional foreign language.
The fifth generation of the Nibbio Courses will begin the educational and instructional path laid down for each role and, in particular, the pilots will immediately go to the 70th Wing in Latina to face flight selection, at the end of which they will obtain their aeroplane pilot's licence on the SIAE-SF260 propeller training aircraft.
It is, therefore, the beginning of a long and high-standard training process that the young cadets, following in the footsteps of those who went before them, will pursue with enthusiasm and commitment, and which will lead them to become Regular Air Force Officers and future commanders of the Armed Force.
